Document design

“What is good powerpoint presentation?”

Base on the first presentation for our group last week, there are a few changes we would like to do to improve our presentation slides to more effective such as, lack of animation for the slides, too many words in one point, language being use is a bit hard to understand and arrangement of the slides are not consistence.

According to Anderson (1987), a good document design helps readers read efficiently, emphasises the important point and encourage readers to feel good about a communication. (Cited in Putis and Petelin 1996 p.254) When doing a PowerPoint slides, will need to simplify the points for audience to read.

According to Russell (n.d), presenter need to keep the audience who listen to the presentation interested and pay attention on the presentation slides. Base on the presentation slides, there some sentence in the slide where the audience found a little hard to understand what I am trying to explain.

Animation can heighten the audience’s interest in the presentation. (Russell n.d) For our group presentation slide, animation effects are not included on the points and pictures. Animation effect is able to grab the attention from the audience; hence certain amount of animation should be included.

Furthermore, according to Marquez (2010) do not use too many words or sentences in presentation slide, and try to relate the slide one to another. However, figure 2 slide have many words.

Lastly, presenter needs to be very clear about the timing of presentation, presenter need to alert about the timing given to particular presentation. (Darlington 2010) Thus, before the presentation, rehere a few time and keep the presentation in a given time limit.
